Task and purpose of the Foundation

The purpose of the foundation, which was established by the city of Kirn and the children of the couple, Dr. Rolf Eichenauer and Claudia Frey, is to preserve the artistic legacy of Franz Eichenauer and his wife Ute Eichenauer-Best, to make it accessible to a wider public and to illustrate the importance of the artist couple for culture and art not only in the regional area. For this purpose, the city provided the necessary capital with the help of generous donors, and the heirs provided the majority of the artistic estate to the foundation.

2415 acrylic paintings, watercolours and drawings, numerous documents and documents for artistic work on and in buildings, documents about awards and award ceremonies as well as exercises from childhood and adolescence, press reports and publications in print media provide a great overview of the life and work of the two artists.

However, the foundation not only wants to preserve the heritage, but also to awaken interest in art at the moment and supports this with the help of the city of Kirn through projects at schools, in retirement homes, through projects with current artists such as Plein Air projects in the Kirn area.

In 2022, the works of artist friend Ilse Wild-Kussler were "accepted" into the foundation

The foundation has received recognition as a "non-profit institution" from the tax office.
